Management
Steve Moran, President and CEO, Director
Mr. Moran has over 25 years of oil and gas experience with an emphasis on land negotiations and corporate planning. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Moran was the President of Big Echo, a private oil & gas exploration company, which he co-founded. Prior to forming Big Echo, from 1998 to 2003, Mr. Moran was Vice President, Land of Monolith Oil Corp., a private oil and gas Corporation he co-founded under the initiative of Mr. Keith MacDonald. From its single equity issue of $2.3 million in1999, Monolith grew to a production level greater than 3000 BOE/d, when it was sold to Petrobank Energy and Resources Ltd. in 2003.
From 1997 to 1998, Mr. Moran was Land Manager of Ulster Petroleums Ltd. Prior to joining Ulster, Mr. Moran was Land Manager of Anderson Exploration Ltd., where he held positions of increasing responsibilities from 1990 to 1997. Prior to joining Anderson, Mr. Moran consulted during the founding and start-up of Petrocorp Canada (later renamed Fletcher Challenge Canada). Mr. Moran began his career in the land department at Dome Petroleum in 1985 (later acquired by Amoco Canada), where he remained until 1990.
Mr. Moran graduated from Acadia University in 1985 with Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and was a member of the Acadia University national football championship team in 1981. Mr. Moran is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.
Peter O'Leary, P. Geol., VP Exploration
Mr. O'Leary has over 22 years of oil and gas experience focused primarily in the Deep Basin, Peace River Arch and British Columbia District. Most recently, Mr. O'Leary was Vice President, Geology with Pace Oil and Gas Limited where he concentrated on the development and extension of the Montney Formation. Pace was formed through the acquisition of the upstream assets of Provident Energy Ltd. by Midnight Oil Exploration, of which Mr. O'Leary was a founding management team member since November 2004. Prior to Midnight Oil Exploration, Mr. O'Leary was Manager, Exploration of Midnight Oil & Gas. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. O'Leary was Manager, Exploration – Peace River Arch for Devon Canada. He was also Sr. Geologist with Anderson Exploration from 2000 to 2001 and Ulster Petroleum Ltd. from 1994 to 2000. Mr. O'Leary began his career in 1989 as a Geologist with Petro Canada.
Mr. O'Leary holds a Bachelor of Science and Engineering (Geological Engineering) degree from Laval University, Quebec. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.
Trevor P. Murphy, P. Eng., VP Engineering
Mr. Murphy has over 15 years of oil and gas experience throughout the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Prior to his position at Bellamont Exploration Mr. Murphy was a Staff Engineer at Crescent Point Energy Trust where he was responsible for the Production, Exploitation and A&D activities in various S.E. Saskatchewan properties. Previous to Crescent Point, he worked in the Central and Southern plains division of Anderson Exploration/Devon Canada where he was involved in a wide variety of projects including sour oil and gas developments. Prior to Anderson/Devon, Mr. Murphy worked in the capacity of welltest specialist and later as a Production Engineer at Crestar Energy. Mr. Murphy started his career with Schlumberger Canada in the wireline division as a Field Engineer.
Mr. Murphy graduated from the University of Calgary in 1995 with a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.
Brian Ritchie, P. Eng., VP Exploitation
Mr. Ritchie has over 16 years of oil and gas experience throughout Western Canada. In 2006, Mr. Ritchie joined Esprit Energy Trust in the Business Development team. Esprit was sold to Pengrowth Energy Trust, where Mr. Ritchie continued on with Pengrowth Management on the Business Development team. In 2000, Mr. Ritchie joined Anderson Exploration/Devon Canada as an Exploitation Engineer in the Peace River Arch, where his prime focus was the Dunvegan Debolt Gas field. Mr. Ritchie's career began with Imperial Oil, where he held positions in reservoir and production engineering, with a 3 year term in the field.
Mr. Ritchie is a 1992 graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. He holds a BSc and an MSc in Engineering and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.
Craig A. Thomas, VP Land
Mr. Thomas has over 14 years of experience in land management, with emphasis on sourcing and negotiating exploration and acquisition land agreements. From July 2003 to January 2006, Mr. Thomas held the position of Land Manager at Espoir Exploration Corp., a company in which he was a founding member. Espoir was a TSX Venture Exchange issuer that utilized a Class A/B structure and was ultimately sold to Rockyview Energy Inc. in January of 2006. During his tenure at Espoir as its sole land negotiator, Mr. Thomas sourced several opportunities that helped grow Espoir from zero barrels to approximately 1,000 boe/d at the time of corporate sale. From October 2001 to July 2003, Mr. Thomas held the position of Senior Landman at Devon Canada Corporation in the Peace River Arch team. From May 1996 to October 2001, Mr. Thomas was a Landman at Anderson Exploration Ltd.
Mr. Thomas graduated from the University of Calgary in 1996, receiving a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Petroleum Land Management. Mr. Thomas is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.
Tavis A. Carlson, C.A., VP Finance and CFO
Mr. Carlson served as Controller of the Corporation since 2008, and Acting Chief Financial Officer since August 2009, until being appointed Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer in August 2010. Prior to joining Bellamont, Mr. Carlson gained varied accounting, finance and taxation experience with ARC Resources Ltd. ("ARC") and Ryan Energy Technologies. Mr. Carlson began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he was involved in the audit of public and private companies in the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Carlson graduated from the University of Alberta in 2002 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.
